A large number of businesses often make the mistake of thinking an accessible parking spot or an access ramp are sufficient to be inclusive.
An equal number of people also make the mistake of assuming that all disabilities and impairments are visible and can easily be assessed.
The truth is that 96% of people with chronic medical conditions show no outward signs of their illness. These conditions can be just as debilitating as conditions which are more outwardly visible to the general public, but those living with hidden conditions are often at the mercy of a society that forgets about them.
Diversify are experienced consultants, advising private businesses, government organisations, care homes, and educational facilities on ways to improve their approach to disabled and impaired people.
We take pride in our ability to understand the needs and wants of those living with hidden disabilities, and we are skilled and experienced in communicating those needs to business owners and employers.
I asked Diversify if they could support the development of a new team I am setting up within the NHS (mental health services) I was keen to support the development of a culture in the team which embraces and values diversity and difference and discussed these needs with Sara who tailored some training specifically for us. We agreed to two workshops on LGBT and Disability and both sessions were adapted specifically to our needs, with Sara ensuring she knew what we needed and it matched the needs of the team. All the team (around 15 in total) enjoyed both sessions, stating they got a lot out of the workshops. They all engaged well and it is clear they have taken a lot of learning on board from the sessions. I would love to work with Diversify again, very professional, friendly and adaptive.
